PRISM participants have had a busy year and taken part in several international conferences and field visits, including the 4th International Conference on Environmental Science and Technology (EST) in Mongolia (http://est.igg.ac.mn/84.html). PRISM partner Sebastian Westermann from UiO was invited to give a keynote presentation, “Permafrost mapping in a changing climate” as well as giving two interviews with Mongolian National Television on Climate Change and permafrost thaw impacts. Hanna Lee (NTNU) also gave a presentation “Impact of permafrost thaw, palsa degradation, and natural succession on greenhouse gas exchange”. In addition, two other PRISM participants presented results:
Robin Zweigel: Simulating forest impact on ground thermal regime using the CryoGrid Community model – examples from Terelj
Clare Webster: Estimating shortwave radiation in forests at country-wide scales
In October, PRISM partner Moritz Langer from Vrije University organized the CryoGrid “ITCH” hackathon and modeling workshop in Amsterdam. PIRSM funded the meeting costs and travel stipends for participants.
